A Thuistí,

I hope that you are all enjoying the break! Hopefully the weather will improve for the last few weeks of the holidays.

We look forward to exciting times in the new term – Múinteoir Rachel will be taking over as as our new principal in early October – we all wish her well in her new position. Rachel has been a valued member of staff for the last decade and is a former pupil of this school, she recieved all of her primary school education in the shops, cafes and Dressing rooms of Society street [CLICK HERE for a little bit of our history]

A full school information letter will issue to all families by August 23rd, please find some useful information below:

  • The school Calendar / Féilire for 2024/25 is available on our school website www.gaelscoil.ie
  • The list of Class Teachers for next year is available HERE
  • Our school will re-open on Monday, September 2nd.
  • School books and copies will be provided by the school from September (including Homework Journal from Rang 1 – Rang 6)
  • Each child will need to purchase pencils, colours, etc. for school and home – a list for each class is available HERE
  • School Uniforms – as last year children from Naíonáin Bheaga /Mhóra and Rang 1 will wear their school tracksuit every day. **It has been noted that some children find the knitted school jumper uncomfortable to wear – to this end a review of our school uniform will take place over the coming year with a view to modernising our school clothing. **For the coming year, Rang 2 – Rang 6 may wear either our school tracksuit or the current full school uniform every day (we ask all pupils to wear the school tracksuit on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
  • School Tracksuits are available from Kidz Korner, St. Michael’s Square. School Jumpers are available from www.schoolwearhouse.ie – all other items may be purchased in any chain store.
  • School Lunches are available to all pupils at no cost. As you are aware lunches for the week are ordered one week in advance online – a wide range of sandwiches, breads, crackers fillings, salads, snacks and fruit is available. The lunch programme worked very well last year, although we did find that regularly discussing the options and changing the menu, helped to ensure that as little food as possible went home uneaten.
  • Photo copying / text service / Art and craft supplies / etc.  €20 for child 1, €15 for child 2 and €5 for all other children in a family.

The school office will re-open on Monday, August 26th. If you have any queries please direct them to oifig@gaelscoil.ie – this email will be monitored weekly. Please keep an eye on our school website for updates.

Bíodh samhradh álainn agaibh ar fad!!

Have a wonderful summer!!

Ruairí agus foireann na scoile.
