A Thuistí, a Chairde,

Táimid beagnach críochnaithe agus tá na laethanta saoire beagnach anseo!

We are nearly finished school for the summer and the holidays are almost upon us!

It has been a most unusual year, and well done to us all for getting this far. We have been staying at home, working remotely, and communicating virtually for the last 14 weeks – it hasn’t been easy, but we have come through it. We are very proud of all the children and of how they have coped and engaged. A huge thanks to all our parents who were out there on the frontline keeping us safe. This is a time that each one of us will never forget for many varied and different reasons!

We do have good news! Our efforts over the last number of months have helped us come to a point where the full reopening of schools in September can be planned. We will all be delighted when this takes place safely. The Department of Education will hopefully issue guidelines for schools today (Monday). As soon as we are clear about future plans we will be in contact without delay.

This year still needs to be finished off properly! You will notice that our teachers have not posted any menus of work this week. Last week they posted a range of extra fun activities that the children can continue to engage with this week if that suits. Well done to all the children who have already taken part in our virtual Sports Day, and well done to all who travelled to San Diego among other places on their school tours!

We look forward to Rang a Sé graduating on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Unfortunately, we are unable to have our usual Céimniú (Graduation ceremony)  this year. However, we do plan on having a very special virtual graduation on Thursday, preparations for which have been underway for the last 6 weeks to ensure that this will be a unique and memorable event.

On Friday morning at 10.30 a.m. we will have our final Tionól (assembly) of the year, and we will say goodbye to all our classes for the summer and wish everyone a happy and safe break. Details of how to join in will be sent by email/text.

Booklists will be posted on our school website this week. Many parents have had questions about school jumpers, and how they can be purchased this year. We are working with the distributor to ensure that our school jumper will be available to purchase online from our supplier, ‘The School Warehouse’. I will pass on further details when I have them.

Have a good week!
