A Thuistí agus a pháistí,

Tá súil agam go raibh Cáisc deas agaibh ar fad agus go raibh an seaclaid go deas!

I hope you and all your family are keeping safe and well and that you had a happy and safe Easter.

Prior to the break, we know that despite all the unprecedented events, pupils still managed to keep in touch with their school-work, while also learning how to develop a whole new set of skills. Skills for life without a doubt!

I would like to thank all the parents and guardians for all the support you have given your children at home.  It is not easy  to balance all the tasks you now have to complete at home as well as trying to keep healthy in both mind and body.

On Monday, April 20th, we had been due to go back to School. However, as you are aware the school closure period has been extended until further notice. In this regard, we will need to continue our distance learning.  Again, as we did before Easter, each teacher has posted a menu of work for their class on our school website (www.gaelscoil.ie). Our site contains a mixture of curricular activities, in-door and out-door options as well as suggested activities from useful and interesting websites, RTE Home School Hub, TG4 and a host of free activities now on-line.

As this is an unprecedented and unique situation, I would once again like to stress that there is no pressure on parents/guardians to follow the timetables or complete all the work assigned. The situation in each home varies and even more so in these unusual times.  Every child is being asked to do their best to complete the work they can, enjoy the suggested activities, take the opportunity to read as much as possible and hopefully enjoy the outdoors with the hope of continued fine weather.

We are currently investigating a range of online learning platforms. Rang 6 were already using a platform before this closure and have continued to use it with success. We hope to be in a position to introduce a platform to some other classes in the next week or two. It is our hope that such an on-line educational platform will complement the work being outlined in our school website and will allow some more interaction between pupils and class teacher.

In the meantime, please use the contact form on your class page of the school website to interact with your class teacher – we would be delighted to hear from you and to see your work.

Finally, we look forward to the day we will be able to welcome you all back to Scoil Uí Cheithearnaigh!

Idir an dá linn, Tabhair aire, bí sábháilte agus fan sa bhaile.

Take care. Be safe. Stay at home.

Le meas,
